We Care Workshop, November 9, 2024
Many thanks to the 14 ladies who set-up, pieced, sandwiched, sewed on binding, quilted, measured, worked on completing some partial flimsies, their own 'We Care' projects and of course helped to take down all the tables and put the room back to original form! It was nice to see some new members participate and of course our regular Sew Day worker bees! A great and productive sewing day was had by all. 9 completed quilts were handed in that day and we expect many more to appear at the next couple of meetings!
Our Sew Day had some unexpected visitors some members of a local Chilliwack hockey team who were fundraising with 'Krispy Kreme' donuts & chocolate bars - they hit the right time we think as they managed to get quite a few boxes sold of donuts and a chocolate bar or two!
It was nice to get to know some of our new members and get them acquainted with the 'We Care' program. Using our fabric, panels, backing and batting had them well on their way to completing their first “We Care” quilt. Some were able to piece and almost complete their quilts expanding their creativity and skills! Thank you again so much for participating in the 'We Care' sew day!
We Care Workshop 2024
We Care Workshop, April 27, 2024
Our usual meeting place was once again utilized for our We Care sew day. Everyone pitched in to set up the room and quickly got down to work. The project for this event was a mystery brown bag full of 5” random squares. The concept was to reach into the bag pull out a square and sew it to the row. No planning was required resulting in a very scrappy looking quilt top. Many of the 12 members who attended the day worked on this project. We had 3 members drop in to gather supplies or just visit. Several visitors to the library poked their nose in to see what we were making. One little girl got a personal lesson, made a coaster, and went away very excited about sewing.
