Retreat 2020
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RETREAT - Reported as the best one yet!
Our annual retreat was held at Springbrooke in Langley on Feb 14 to 16. None of the married ladies seemed to mind that it was held on Valentine's Day. There was an extreme lack of snow this year that made arrivals and departures easy to accommodate. Everyone arrived at different times so the early birds settled into their desired spots. Cheese and crackers were served to create a mix and mingle before dinner. Everyone settled into serious sewing for the evening. Part of the event was to participate in a secret Valentine, that involved the giving of small gifts over the course of the weekend. Everyone enjoyed the fabulous abundance of food: breakfast, lunch, dinner and tons of snacks. All were encouraged to sit with different members at each meal to connect with someone they may not know well. Saturday it poured rain keeping us all inside at our machines, perfect retreat weather. Throughout the weekend there were many walk throughs showing and sharing projects. Highlights were: Rachel staying up until 3am dancing or was it sewing under the disco ball, Lyn being the one and only person to brave the hot tub, Sonja and her wonderful story telling enlisting gales of laughter, Carla and her copious number of projects, Joan who arrived with tons of pre-cuts ready to go on queen size quilts, Sandra sewed quietly along on her ‘huge’ handwork project, Kate found a new bedroom, Fay mentioned how much she loves the guild and thanked everyone for saving her life, and Janet the self professed non-piecer finished piecing yet another top. Everyone enjoyed it so much they have signed up for next year.
