June meeting is our potluck along with an activity and bringing our mystery bag project.

One new member at the May meeting, membership total is now 56.

We Care

Deliveries to several locations. Large labels can be used for the We Care display at the show. 2 gift certificates available for the June meeting.

Library

Audit of the books will take place before year end.

Fat Quarter

Floral for June.

Workshop

Cancelled due to lack of participants.

Quilt Show

GVP sales will happen June 6.  Casino sales will happen June19. Volunteer signup sheet will be available at the June meeting. Bookman will allow a window display to promote our show.

Reminder about the open hose at Imagine High - June 23.

Will not send out request for Chilliwack Fair help as day guild member Lynn T is doing it.

Public Facebook page will be worked on in July.

May speaker will be Rhonda Morrison speaking about longarm quilting and bringing a pop-up shop.  Cake for volunteer recognition will happen.

In Sept will ask members to add an emergency contact number to their membership form.

We Care

Sew day is booked for the Sardis Library Feb 28 Saturday 10 am.  Need more signups.  New roll of batting was purchased. Prizes for Autumn Leaf project were purchased. More backing fabric purchased from Cozy Cottons.

Quilt Show

First and second prize quilts are fully completed.  GVP quilt is done ready for auction donation.  Still need volunteers for Raffle Quilt Sales and Receiving / Returning quilts.

 

March Meeting

Reminder to bring Mystery Bag item to March meeting.

New Business

New mini project – placemat, 30 anniversary celebration, Iris Z will introduce, hand in for Sept and quilt show display. Separate Facebook page open to the public. Posters or cards to advertise the guild. Elizabeth G is interested in doing a write-up on the history of the guild for the 30 anniversary

Programs

March presenter Kiranjot Kaur, Using Remnants, will check to see if she needs any tech equipment. April presenter Jill Schuler of The Stitchery, Liberty Fabric and a pop-up shop.

We Care

Chilliwack Hospice received 15 quilts, will take more. Horse Camp received 10 quilts. Cozy Cotton (Tumbler Ridge) received 40 quilts. 2 fabric donations were picked up. Will check on Coffee News that they have the correct info for the next issue. Thankyou card & plant sent to Wanda L for helping at Deep Dive. 2 prizes will be draw for Leaf block makers, must be in attendance to receive. Letter from Ann Davis, will read at the March meeting, happy to receive more . Sew Day 13 members and 7 guests attended, 22 quilts handed in 21 heart pillows. Heart Pillow sent to Jenna H of the Progress. Possibly look for a new location other than the library for the next Sew Day. Donation of fat 1/8 will go to the raffle basket for the quilt show.

Nancy R will bring samples and signup sheet to see if there is interest. Will run in April or May if any go ahead.

April Meeting

Will go ahead with making a public Facebook and Instagram page for the guild.

Charity donation cheques have been delivered, they were thankful.

New Business

Read the letter from the Chilliwack Fair asking for a volunteer to run the quiltiing department.

CQA membership and insurance is been checked on.

Update on the Gathering of the Guilds meeting that was attended by Lyn, Leah and Iris.

Deep Dive at Imagine High might be on again, waiting for confirmation.

QuiltNut is hosting a special shopping day for the guild members.

Programs

November will be Stabalizers with Nancy and Favourite Notions by members. Signup email will be sent for the notion participation. 

December will be potluck and a fun game along with the Lotto block draw.

Treasurer

Working on CQA insurance. Getting information on using the Square for the Oct quilt show.

Connecting with Chilliwack Quilters to coordinate places to drop off quilt donations. Putting in an order for new labels with Art Fabrics. Rhonda is donating fabric to the guild.

Quilt Show

Signup sheet still has openings.  Raffle quilt sewing day is Nov 9.

Youth Bags

Cash has been donated, missing items will be bought. Bags to be filled Nov 22 and then delivered.

Advertising

Two new advertisers - Robin's Nest Quilts and Cindy's Thread Works.  They will also be vendors at the coming quilt show.

Challenge Project

At the Nov meeting members will take a bag, fill it with three items (fat 1/8 fabric, embelishment, mystery item) then return the bag at the Dec meeting.  Take a new bag home, work on a project of your choice and return it for viewing at teh march meeting.

Will run meetings without the microphone.

Job descriptions will be worked on in Jan for updating.

Volunteer recognition ideas still being worked on.

Deep Dive at Imagine High School is a go. Starts Dec 8 with members volunteering to help at the school.

December will be potluck and a fun game along with the Lotto block draw, scrappy Christmas ornament, Mystery Bag Challenge.

October is Berene Campbell from Happy Sew Lucky. Workshop on the same day as the meeting is a go with 20 signed up, to be held in Yarrow. November will be Stabalizers with Nancy and Favourite Notions by members. Iris will present a Lotto block for Dec at the Oct meeting.

Treasurer

The budget was passed at the Sept meeting. Some concern about membership numbers and money expected from that.

40 paid members hoping for at least 60 as was budgeted.  Email will be sent to encourage sign-up. Need more buddies for new members.

September Meeting 

Old Business 

Reviewed the Code of Conduct - will send a reminder and link in the September newsletter.

New Business

Next exec meeting will be potluck in person at Lyn's on Sept 27 at lunch.

Review job descriptions and repost new ones on the web site, Bev will proof read.

Vote to members to start meetings at 630 and not 7, starting in October.

Will need a list of Door Greeters for the year a signup sheet will be passed around.

Programs

September is Colleen MacKinnon with Penny Rugs and a pop-up shop.  October is Berene Campbell from Happy Sew Lucky. She will also be offering a Workshop earlier in the day. Info to signup will be sent to the our guild, the day guild and the modern guild. Cost $36 for members and $45 for non-members.

Treasurer

The budget was presented. This will be presented to the members for voting at the Sept meeting.

Membership - Registration

We will be collecting $35 for membership fees.  Payment can be made by via e-transfer, cash or cheque.  Notice will be sent to the members via email.

2 days for drop-in supply pick up at Cozy happened in the summer. Looking for a location to host a sew day on Nov 22.  Autumn Leaves block sewing is on going.

Berene Campbell will offer a workshop on Oct 15, Improv Tree (paper pieced).  Looking for a venue to hold the workshop.

Quilt Show

Signup sheet for Raffle quilt sewing will be passed around in October, sew day to be held in Nov.  2026 show date set of after our Oct meeting - Oct 23/24 2026.

Youth Bags

Will continue to ask for items, reminder in the newsletter cash can also be donated.  Bag filling will happen on the We Care Nov sew day.
