June Meeting - via Zoom

Programs

For September we will form a group to continue the door prize draws and for home delivery.  Sonja is continuing to contact possible presentors who can do a digital format.  

Newsletter

Next reports due Monday 8 June. Will send an email to all members for a mini write-up about their Covid accomplishments, 5 gift cards via random draw for participants.

Membership

12 Hamels gift cards were purchased for the Facebook draws that will take us to the end of June.  10 more Hamels gift cards will be purchased. Decision made to waiver the membership fee for next year September 2020 - June 2021.  We will ask for $30.00 voluntary payment for those who wish. Details about how to receive the money (e-transfer or mailed cheque) will be determined at the Aug Exec meeting and info sent to the members.

Make One Take One

Will do the swap this year in June on the meeting night, at the Alliance parking lot 7pm.

Cynthia Challenge

5 Hamels gift cards via random draw will be given our for members who have finished their Cynthia Challenge We Care Project (end of June).

Library

One new book has be purchased.

May Meeting - via Zoom

Programs

Considering an online workshop for members, via Zoom.  Sonja will contact Julie and Quilter on Fire to see if they are interested in an online presentation.

To keep the newsletter running monthly, next reports due Monday 11 May. 

Membership

Discussed ideas for next year.  Will make a decision at June Exec.  Discussed ideas of Zoom Professional for the meetings.  Exec will try out a format. Will purchase more gift certificates from Hamel's for the weekly draws from Facebook.

Unanimously decided to postpone the show until a future date, undetermined.

April Meeting - via Zoom

Programs

Keeping the guild connected.  It was decided that we would step up the use of our closed group Facebook page by posting more images, promote small contests, make a bingo sewing game, and ask questions?  One concern was that not all members use Facebook, so to try to keep them in the loop we would post items on the Webpage that are submitted by the members - We Care, Show & Tell, Make It /Take It, Quilt Challenge, etc.  Also make use of or guild email for more communication.

Newsletter

Keep the newsletter running monthly, next reports due Monday 6 April.  Kate did a run down of updates she would like and talked about new items we could add to keep the members informed.

Treasurer

Connie is checking into the possibility of doing etransfers through our guild account.

Shunshine

Cherri needed an address for a card that was returned.

2020 is complete and was a big success.  2021 has been reserved at Springbrooke for Feb 12 - 14, sign-up at desposits of $65.00 will be at the March meeting.

Both Raffle Quilts are fully completed and have been photographed ready for the ticket prep.

Thank you letter was sent to the family that donated $100, via hospise.

Thank you letter was received from CQA for the donation.

Forwarded communications through the guild email will be sent to the members for other quilts shows but not for advertising where they are asking for money, ie trips.

Apr 4 Sat has been booked for the We Care Workhop at the Sardis library.  Details will be talked about at the February meeting for the new challenge.

Quilt Show

First quilt show committee meeting will be Feb 12 at Janet's house.  Lyn  has all the vendor spots filled.  Both raffle quilts have the quilting finished by Grace and Beatrice, ready for binding and labels.

Donation to CQA will be sent asap.

New Business

Kitchen at the church will have limited availabilty at the March meeting.

December will be our annual pot luck dinner with games.

Sardis Library would be happy to have us on a Saturday, Janet will pass this info along to Sonja so a date can be booked.

We Care

25 of the 27 Christmas kits were returned at the Novemeber. New labels have arrived.  A new order of batting has been put in.  18 kits will be available at the January meeting for a new We Care Challenge, details will be in the newsletter.

76 paid members to date.  Will update the membership list without addresses and send to the members.

Next reports are due Wed Dec 11 or earlier.  Suggestion that the ads in the newsletter should reflect the the size of space paid for.

Retreat

The open space has been filled, all deposits have been collected.

Library

Six new books have been ordered. Renewed the subscription to the magazines.  Payment for the libib service is due in January.

Youth Bags

All bags have been delivered.  The extra supplies were taken to Ann Davis.  Decided to not keep back the extra scarves and hats, Janet will deliver these also.

Make & Take

December will be a Christmas ornament handmade. No item will be announced for December, the next mini project will be announced at the January meeting - a pin cushion swap for February meeting.

Quilt Show

Second raffle quilt top and back are all together, ready for longarm quilting, Beatrice has volunteered to do this one.  First quilt show committee meeting will be Feb 12 at Janet's house.  Lyn is going to start working on the vendor list ahead of the meeting date.

New Business

A list of places for our annual cash donation to the community was suggested.  These will be voted on at the December meeting.  $250 will be sent to the two with the most votes.  Canned food will be collected at the December meeting, Darlene T will make the delivery.

CQA membership has been paid.

 

 

November Meeting 

Treasurer

A new form for handing in cash has been made up, this is for Connie to varify the amount received. Made contact with the Chilliwack Arts Council but no response, might need to visit the office. Will make an announcement in the newsletter to remind members no cheques will be written at the meetings, if a cheque is needed the reimbursement form must be emailed 2 days prior to the meeting.

Programs

November is Maureen Woods talking about foundation paper piecing and a trunk show, December will be our annual pot luck dinner with games.

Sew Days

Discussion around finding a location for a regular once a month Sat sew day for drop in.  Likely need a free location as the numbers can not be garanteed each month.  Suggestion to check into the UFV for a room or Sardis Library.

We Care

27 Christmas kits were taken by the members to be sewn up and returned at the Novemeber or December meeting. A new order of labels was sent in.

Bus Trips

Karri gave a detailed account of what is involved in hiring a bus and taking it to the US with members.  It was decided if a trip to the US was organized it would be done through car pooling and not with a bus.  Karri will look into what is coming to La Connor next year. Discussion of maybe a bus trip to Victoria or Mederia Park.

Retreat

Final payment will be due at the Nov meeting.  Suggestion to look into the retreat location in Agassiz (Hope Retreats) for the future.

Make & Take

Nov mini project will be a needle book/case, asking for them to be signed and placed in a paper bag.  December will be a Christmas ornament handmade.

Quilt Show

Next meeting is Nov 23 Sat to sew all the blocks together for the second prize quilt.  Call for Quilt Show Committee volunteers will be done again at the November meeting, committee leaders still needed are Advertizing, Raffle Ticket Sales, Decorations. Discussion about new curtains for the frames.  Will check at Overseas to see what they have available or can be ordered in for us.  Once the fabric is purchased there will be a sewing day, would like to have them all done before summer.

New Business

A donation of $250 will be sent to CQA for the Viewers Choice Award.

An answer of yes will be sent to the person requesting to use the Chilliwack Piecemakers in an obituary as a dontation place in place of flowers.

Karlie and Cherri have volunteered to scan all the old minutes and place them in Google Docs, then shread all the paper files

Old Business

Insurance has been paid and has the hall rental on the form.

Youth bag program only needs 9 male deodorant and 11 mittens. $20 donation will purchase last few items needed.  Date set for delivery of all the bags is Tue 3 Dec.  Date Sat Nov 30 is for filling the bags at Sardis Library at 10 am.  Will be asking for volunteers at the November meeting.

October is Heather Wiebe from Hamels she will be talking about tools, November is Maureen Woods talking about foundation paper piecing and a trunk show.

We Care

We Care is making a special project for a community member who sent a request for baby quilts, Gail and Ginger have completed the top, Beatrice will quilt them and Lyn will do the binding. Request from Stolo Nation will be refered to the Chilliwack Guild but if they do not wish to respond our guild will.  Pearl Society is looking for a donation quilt they can use as a fundraiser, Hannah has donated a top, Beatrice will quilt it and Hannah will do the binding.

Membership - Registration

60 paid members to date.  The membership list will be updated at the end of the Oct meeting.  Membership list will be distributed to all members. Cherri will be making a goodie bag for the new members to receive. Discussion on how to improve the buddy program, will check with those who are on the list if they want to stay on it and for those members who are the buddies.  Need to be sure all new members and guests sit with someone. Janet, Grace L and Kate volunteered to be floaters if a buddy is needed.

Library

Circulation of books could be better. When new books or magazines arrive there is a line-up to take them out.

Retreat

Two openings came available but have been filled by two members on the waiting list. Final payment will be due at the Nov meeting.

Make & Take

Mug rugs will be swapped at the October meeting, asking for them to be signed on the back and placed in a paper bag.  Nov mini project will be a needle book.

Quilt Show

Next meeting is Oct 5 to sew all the blocks together.  Grace L volunteered to quilt it, We Care will donate the batting. Donation item for the Gwen Vaughn Park is completed. Intro of the 2nd prize quilt, blocks made by the members will done at the Oct meeting.  Call for Quilt Show Committee volunteers will be done at October meeting.

Sunshine/Hospitality

Need to print more cards, Karlie has the file.

Old Business

Hall rental and CQA insurance has been paid.

Youth bag program needs more bags and a few other items to be listed on hte webpage and in the newsletter.  Date set for delivery of all the bags is Tue 3 Dec.  Janet will check on a date (either Nov 23 or 30) for filling the bags at Sardis Library.

Twoonie Sew day is planned and booked for Sat 2 Nov from 10 till 7, cost $2 at the Community of Christ Church.  The guild is paying for the Hall rental $100.

The committee met and came up with many topic for future meetings.  Sept is FAN's 'From a Tiny Seed'.  October is Heather Wiebe from Hamels she will be talking about tools, November is Maureen Woods talking about foundation paper piecing and a trunk show.

We Care

A new member will be requested at the Sept meeting to join the committee.  We Care is making a special project for a community member who sent a request for a baby quilt.

Membership - Registration

39 members paid in May and June. Asking for next Septembers membership dues to be paid during the  June meeting to ease the way for September and Darlene as Karlie will be absent that meeting.  Still $30.00 for the 2019 - 2020 year. Hamels and Countryfolk door prizes have been picked up.  The buddy program will continue with a new sign up, will ask for member volunteers to be buddies.  Janet will be an on call buddy if someones buddy does not attend a meeting.

Library

Two new books were purchased for the Sept meeting. Magazine subscriptions have been renewed.

Retreat

Retreat has 20 members paid, next payment is $100 due at the Sept meeting.

Advertising

Posters advertising the guild and meeting dates will be placed in the quilt stores.

Quilt Show

Fabric was purchased in the summer. Joanne B washed and pressed the fabric.  Next meeting in Fri Sept 6 to plan the project and precut fabric.

Sunshine/Hospitality

A reminder will go out to members that styro or paper cups will no longer be available, they will need to bring their own cup.

New Business

Insurance and CQA to be paid soon.

Hall rental is due end of the Sept.

Post office box key will be kept by Doris F, she will check for mail weekly.

Old Business

Sewing room visits to be arranged by Janet, looking for a date in Nov or in the spring.
