May Meeting
Old Business
The hooks for the church were used at the April meeting to hang our show and tell.
Programs
May - Jean Jones of A Great Notion will be doing a presentaion called 'Little Things Make A Big Difference'.
June - Pot Luck Party with lots of prizes and games.
Quilt Show Raffle Quilt
Seven members have volunteered to form a committee, first meeting will be at Janet's 7:00pm Monday May 15.
Elections
Elections will be held in May. Beatrice has agree to let her name stand for Vice President. Carla and Joanne have agree to let their names stand for the Program position (a two person job for future years). We will be asking for a workshops volunteer and a bus trip volunteer.
Retreat 2018
Date is Feb 23 - 25. Fifteen people signed up at the April meeting. Springbrooke has been booked. There a 3 openings still available.
Anniversary Party - Designs
Designs are due this month and the voting will take place in June. Money has been allocated for the purchase of the fabric with the selected design and will be purchased over the summer months ready for distribution in September.
January Meeting
Old Business
Kate has purchased fabric for the Canada 150 quilt blocks. Fabric will be given to members who will then add other fabrics from their stash to make a 12.5” (unfinished) block. There will also be a sew day later (maybe April) to make more blocks.
The guild’s 20th anniversary is coming up. The idea of designing and printing our own fabric will be introduced at the January general meeting. Members will be invited to come up with a design for the fabric. Designs will be turned in and voted on at the April meeting. The design will be digitized and printed.
New Business
Janet will be in touch with the Chilliwack Arts Council to update the contact information for the guild.
Programs
January – Canada 150 quilt, anniversary fabric, and Judy will talk about a new mystery quilt.
February – member merchant mall. You can sell whatever you want (sewing/craft related).
March – Lorna Moffat from North Vancouver
We Care
Ginger C. has been added to the We Care committee.
We Care workshop will be at the Sardis Library on March 4th, from 10:00-4:00. The committee is making up kits. Extra kits will be available at general meetings until all are taken.
Sunshine/Hospitality
A suggestion was made that perhaps at the next pot luck we set up the food tables down the middle of the hall to prevent the bottle neck that happens at the kitchen door.
Quilt Show Raffle Quilt
The membership will be asked about the 2018 raffle quilt. Who wants to make it? Do we want to do one? A reminder will be given to members that if we are having a raffle they must sell the tickets!
Library
Twenty new books have recently been purchased.
April Meeting

April - Karlie McChesney will be sharing her Art Quilt Journey.
Kate asked for all 150 Quilt Bee blocks, flimsy and finsihed quilts be handed in at the April meeting.

We Care
Spoonflower order of new labels, 4 yards worth, has arrived.
Possible place to purchase spray for next years workshop is Dress Sew in Vancouver.
Quilt Show Raffle Quilt
During the April meeting we will pass a clip board for interested persons to make/work on the raffle quilt. If there is enough interest a meeting will happen to make decisions regarding the process.

Retreat 2018
Date is Feb 23 - 25. Total cost is $260.00. Lyn and Wendy have volunteered to organize this event. Sign-up will take place at the April meeting and a $60.00 non-refundable deposit will need to be brought to the meeting. Sept deposit is $100.00 and the final payment due in Nov $100.00. This event will be open to guild members first, a total of 18 in all, if space allows it will be opened to non-guild members.
Anniversary Party - Designs
An extension has been made for the submission of the designs with the hopes more members will participate. Designs are now due in May and the voting will take place in June.
October Meeting
New Business
We asked if we could put hooks and a wire up to hang the quilts for Show and Tell, similar to how it is done at the morning guild. The church committee says we can put up hooks but cannot leave the wire up. The executive agreed that we would like to bring this idea to the general membership and with their agreement we will move forward with this idea.
Janet has asked Judi if she would be willing to lead another mystery quilt project.
Programs
Kate has an idea for a possible program in the new year. CQA is organizing a project to make quilts for Ronald McDonald Houses across the country. One of the fabrics in the quilt must be from the Canada 150 fabric collection. CQA would like 12.5 inch unfinished blocks made and sent to Toronto by May.
October program – Kathleen Riggins, a long arm quilter from Alberta. Also a fat quarter draw for Halloween fat quarters. Donate a fat quarter to get your entry into the draw. Beatrice will speak about the need for heart shaped pillows for breast cancer patients.
November – mini demos. We are short of volunteers so Kate will ask again at the general meeting. Possible demos are Christmas ornaments or decorations.
December – Secret Santa gifts. Pot luck dinner.
Membership
At the September meeting we had 43 members. plus 4 new members and 2 returning members paid.
Publicity/Advertising
All advertisers have paid. Members will be asked to mention to advertisers that the member saw their ad in the newsletter.
Quilt Show
Things seem to be ready to go. There will be about 150 quilts, plus mystery quilts, challenge quilts and 55 baskets displayed at the show. More volunteers are needed. The sign-up sheet will be circulated again at the meeting. Prizes will be paid in cash, $25-50 depending on the category won. We will also have a “show special” rate of $20 for new members that sign up and pay at the show.
Retreat
Feb. 24-26. One place has become vacant. A note will be put in the newsletter. Final payment is due at the end of November.
Library
We will be upgrading to the “pro” level which enables members to use the search function.
November Meeting
Old Business
Janet will meet with the maintenance man from the church to have hooks installed on two walls.
New Business
We will make a donation to the CQA. This is a line item in the budget so it does not need an additional motion.
The guild’s 20th anniversary is coming up. The idea of getting some special fabric printing was discussed. The fabric could be used in a challenge quilt project that would start in Oct. 2017 and displayed at our 2018 quilt show.
Programs
Joyce has volunteered to organize the fat quarter draw each month.
November – speed dating to get to know new members. Lyn will bring a bell. We will also have a special Show and Tell of mystery quilts and challenge quilts. The fat quarter draw will be for Christmas fabric.
December – pot luck and a secret Santa swap.
We Care
Quilts have been donated to our regular recipients in Chilliwack and Agassiz. Photos are on the website.
Membership
Special name tags have been made for new members to wear so they are easily identified. Members will be asked to look for these name tags and make new members feel welcome.
We have 89 members. There were 3 returning members and 8 new members who paid dues at the quilt show.

Quilt Show
Quilt show wrap up meeting will take place immediately following the executive meeting. There will be a full write up for the newsletter.
Retreat
There is one opening for the retreat in February.
September Meeting
New Business
Budget for year 2016 to 2017. Shirley presented a budget work sheet with amounts spent in 2015 to 2016 and figures were written in for the current year. Shirley will type up the suggested budget and Janet will forward it to members.
Programs
Sept: Bernie and Shelley Tobisch will present a program on sewing machine maintenance.
Oct: Kathleen Riggins will do a trunk show.
Other suggestions for future programs were Mini Demos, Speed dating, Xmas pot luck with small gift exchange.
We Care
The room in Sardis library is available for community groups to use on Sat and Sun, but can only be booked through Sunita one month ahead of the date wanted.
Membership
Karlie will put a piece in the newsletter reminding members fees are due place money in an envelope with name and membership number.

Quilt Show
Only 15 have registered quilts so far. Priority at the meeting is the volunteer list. Raffle Quilt tickets are going fairly well.
Retreat
There is one opening for the retreat in February.

Diane wants to extend the libib program so members can search for books.
March Meeting

Janet will be following up on the hooks for the church so we can hang our show and tell.

The guild will be purchasing a new iron and multi-plugin extension cord.

March meeting the membership wil be voting to decide if we will make a raflle quilt or not for the 2018 show.

The 'libib' program has been upgraded to the Pro version allowing us the search for a book online.

Please bring your first and/or second work in progress to share at the March meeting.
